Conflict and Compromise
The conflict was that Helen Keller developed a disease that made her go blind and deaf. She had to read braille and feel hand movements. Allthough she couldn't see. She loved nature and every living thing. As a child Helen would go crazy when she did not get what she wanted. She would take her hair and rap it like a bun when she wanted her mother. She would also point to her hand when she wanted some bread. Once she locked her mom in the pantry for many houres. Her mom would yell and bang on the pantry door but Helen could'nt hear her or see the pantry door try to open.
The compromise was that Helen chose to go to a regulare college { Radcliffe College } and she was the first blind/deaf person to graduate from college and graduate with honors. While still at Radcliffe she began her writing career. This continued for 50 years. In addition to ''The Story of My Life" she wrote 11 other books and numerous articles on blindness, deafness, social issues and womens rights.
